District 03 Condominiums

Quartier Saint-Roch (Québec), Québec

Upon completion, this building was the tallest cross-laminated structure in North America. It heralded the Quebec building codes’ acceptance of wood construction for 6 storey mid-rise construction. In this densely populated sector of Quebec City, wood provided the only economically viable option available, as low soil compaction values limited other material options to a maximum of 4 stories. The 5 man crew erected the 6-storey building in 23 days, and the 4-storey building in 12 days, highlighting the unparalleled efficiency of CLT construction.
