DU Burwell Career Achievement Center
Denver, Colorado
Located in Denver, CO, the University of Denver’s (DU) Burwell Center for Career Achievement structure is built entirely out of mass timber. Hosting meeting rooms, offices and a classroom, the three-storey building embraces the University’s commitment to sustainable and biophilic construction. A lifecycle analysis of the project revealed that using mass timber as the main structural system allowed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 50%. The exposed timber also connects users to nature, on this central urban campus. The lateral resistance is provided by CLT shear walls.
