Canadian Nuclear Laboratories - Science collaboration centre

Chalk River
Ontario

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) is Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology organization. This Science Collaboration Centre is one of three new builds on the campus. The 6-storey building sits on a sloped terrain and boasts an exposed mass timber structure. A post and beam Nordic Lam system supports cross-laminated timber slab panels. Nordic Lam braces are used to resist lateral forces. The three top floors are cantilevered above the main entrance. The building hosts multiple flexible rooms, a library, a rooftop terrace and a 200-theatre-style-seat auditorium.
